ARTIST
Samuli Heimonen is a Finnish painter.
Samuli Heimonen was born in Saarijärvi, Finland in 1975.
He graduated with an MA in Fine Arts at the University of Art and Design
Helsinki in 2002. In addition, he has studied art education at the
University of Art and Design Helsinki and visual arts at the Orivesi
College of Arts.
The works of Samuli Heimonen are found in several collections including
Helsinki City Art Museum, The City of Porvoo, The Paulo Foundation, Art
Centre Salmela, The Herala Foundation, Saarijärvi Museum, The Mannila Art
Foundation, Municipality of Mäntyharju, and the University of Art and
Design Helsinki. Some other works are in private collections such as the
Capman collection.
Samuli Heimonen's works are on public display at Porvoo city library.
He held his first solo exhibition in 2000 and has taken part in group
exhibitions in Finland and abroad since 1998.
Samuli Heimonen was chosen as Finland's 'Young Artist of the Year' in 2008
and received the Tapper Art Society medal in 2003.
He lives and works in the former Kaihlamäki school in Kangasniemi, central
Finland.
